Tombstone, Arizona is known as the "town too tough to die". Of course, that was a title given to it by Hollywood, not history. But then Bodie, Califirnia should be the "town too rough to die". That's a title given by me. Tombstone and Bodie have one thing in common...their both still in the real world. And I hope that never changes.

Tombstone is a thriving community today while Bodie sits still, in a state that is called arrested decay. In other words, it's left unrestored but is maintained to keep it from falling into the history books as so many of our western frontier towns have done already.
Like Tombstone, Bodie had it's fair share of gunfights, robberies, murders, etc. However, unlike Tombstone, they were not as well known as the OK Corral shootout or the stage holdups that plaqued Arizona at that time. But Bodie lived an exciting life non the less.
